Frequently Asked Questions

The transit center is moving temporarily while the current site is under construction for the redevelopment project. The Transit Center Study will determine the best permanent location for the transit center after the temporary location. Choosing a site for the temporary relocation is a separate effort and has yet to be determined.

How long it will take to get a transit center operational at a new location is dependent on many factors: cost, funding, land ownership/acquisition, infrastructure improvements needed, route structure impacts, etc. These factors will be considered when determining the benefits and impacts of various sites.

The cost of a new transit center will depend on many factors: need to acquire land, cost of the land to be acquired, infrastructure improvements needed (utilities, roadways, sidewalks), desired facilities, etc. The cost to operate and maintain the transit center will also be considered. As cost estimates emerge, this site will be updated to reflect those project advancements.

That will be determined during this study. There are benefits to having indoor amenities available, but the facilities need to be safe and secure.

This study will look at sites in both areas of town. When locating a transit center, things to consider include: Is it centrally located relative to where people want to or need to go (high concentration of jobs)? Is it in a walkable area? What is the impact to the existing transit system? Is there space/land available that meets the needs?
